Add-on help

SheetRender for Google Sheets

Connect the spreadsheet already in front of you, choose one tab, and create a polished PDF for every data row. This page explains setup, exactly what the add-on sends, and how to fix common problems.

Set up the add-on

  1. Install SheetRender from its Google Workspace Marketplace listing.
  2. Open the Google spreadsheet you want to use.
  3. Choose Extensions → SheetRender → Open SheetRender.
  4. Select Continue with Google and approve the requested permission for the current spreadsheet.
  5. Choose a visible tab, review its row count, and select Send.
  6. Finish the project on SheetRender by adding one example document and reviewing the reusable design.
  7. Return to the sidebar whenever your rows change. Create PDFs uploads the current rows and renders them with the saved design in one action.

A free account includes 50 generated documents each month with no card required. See all plans and limits.

What the add-on reads and sends

Before you connect, the add-on does not inspect the spreadsheet. After connection, Apps Script reads the spreadsheet name and each visible tab's name and dimensions to build the tab chooser. Opening the connected sidebar does not by itself send that chooser metadata to SheetRender.

SheetRender receives data only after you choose Send, Update data, Create PDFs, or Send as a new project. It receives the selected spreadsheet and tab names and identifiers, column headers, and cell values from that tab. Create PDFs uploads the latest values before starting the render. Values from other tabs are not sent.

The add-on is limited to the spreadsheet currently open, has no Google Drive access, and does not change your spreadsheet. See the Privacy Policy for retention, providers, security, and deletion details.

Spreadsheet requirements

  • The first row must contain column headers, followed by at least one data row.
  • Only visible tabs appear in the picker.
  • A selected tab can contain at most 500,000 cells, calculated as rows × columns.
  • An individual cell can contain at most 32,767 characters.
  • SheetRender creates one document for each data row, subject to your monthly plan limit.

Accounts, disconnecting, and deletion

If the sidebar says SheetRender is connected to a different Google email, anything you send goes to the connected SheetRender account. Select Disconnect and reconnect, then choose the intended Google account.

Disconnecting in the sidebar revokes the server credential and clears the add-on's per-user credential and remembered tab-to-project mappings. You can also revoke a connection in SheetRender Settings; the sidebar clears its local connection data the next time it detects that revocation.

Disconnecting, revoking Google access, or uninstalling the add-on does not delete spreadsheet snapshots or generated documents already stored in a SheetRender project. Delete the project to remove its associated snapshots and documents, or delete your account from Settings to remove the account and all associated content, subject to normal backup rotation.

Troubleshooting

The sidebar says the link was revoked
Select Continue with Google to connect the account again.
A tab is missing
Unhide the tab in Google Sheets, then close and reopen the sidebar.
The headers changed
Changed columns cannot safely reuse the old design. Send again to start a new project, then review its field mapping and design.
The remembered project was deleted
Send the tab again to create a new SheetRender project.
A render is still running
You can close the sidebar while SheetRender works. Reopen it and select the same tab to follow the batch and download the finished PDFs.
The monthly document limit was reached
Sending data still works. Rendering resumes when the monthly allowance resets, or you can change plans.
